G12 or G12R? Choosing a Kern 132 Module Format

Lumikern makes two 132-cell module formats. Both are N-type TOPCon, bifacial and glass-glass. The difference is size, weight and power per module, and that decides which one suits your site.

Kern 132 G12: the most power per module

Power classes of 700, 705, 710, 715 and 720 Wp, with module efficiency of 22.53–23.18%. The module measures 2384 × 1303 × 33 mm and weighs 38 kg, using 18-busbar G12 cells.

More watts per module means fewer modules, fewer clamps and less cabling per megawatt, which helps balance-of-system cost on large ground-mounted plants.

Kern 132 G12R: narrower and lighter

Power classes from 605 to 640 Wp in 5 Wp steps (models LK-BI-66-605 to LK-BI-66-640), with module efficiency of 22.42–23.72%. The module measures 2382 × 1134 × 30 mm and weighs 33.5 kg, using 132 half-cut G12R cells.

The narrower, lighter format is easier to handle and suits sites where roof load, handling or structure limits matter.

Side by side

Both formats share the important parts:

  • Bifaciality 80 ± 5% and maximum system voltage 1500 V DC
  • Power tolerance 0 to +5 W
  • 12-year product warranty and 30-year performance warranty
  • DCR and non-DCR variants

Packing and logistics

G12 ships 36 modules per pallet and 648 modules per 40-ft HQ container. G12R ships 36 modules per box and 720 modules per 40-ft HC container, about 461 kWp per container at 640 Wp.

FAQs

Kern 132 G12 gives the most power per module, which usually lowers balance-of-system cost on large ground-mounted plants.

Kern 132 G12R is narrower and lighter (33.5 kg), which helps where roof load or handling is a constraint.

Yes. Both are available in DCR and non-DCR variants; DCR is subject to allocation.
